This is the Debian GNU/Linux prepackaged version of the EGCS project
compiler suite, containing C, C++, Objective-C and Fortran-77, and the
libstdc++ support library. It is derived from a late pre-2.8 snapshot of
gcc, which was written by Richard Stallman and a cast of thousands.  (See
"Contributors" in the gcc info documentation for a full list.)

The compilers are split into several binary packages: (e)gcc (which has
support for C, g++ (which supports C++), gobjc (which supports Objective C)
and g77 (supports Fortran). This may change in the future.  The egcs
versions of libstdc++ and lib++ are also provided.

This package was put together by Galen Hazelwood <galenh@micron.net>, with
