This is a Debian Linux's prepackaged version of the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology's LCLint C syntax checking utility.
With minimal effort, LCLint can be used as a better lint.
If additional effort is invested adding annotations to programs,
LCLint can perform stronger checks than can be done by any standard lint.

This package was done by Dale Miller <dale@csd.uwo.ca>, from the original
sources that are available at ftp://larch.lcs.mit.edu/pub/Larch/lclint/

This package was upgraded by Christian Meder meder@control.toronto.edu on
Fri, 11 Apr 1997 10:40:38 -0400.
It was downloaded from ftp://larch.lcs.mit.edu/pub/Larch/lclint

There are minimal changes to the original source. Only necessary files
needed for package maintenance by the Debian package system were
added in the debian directory.

Sorry for the slow response, I was out of town last week.

Sure, I have no problem with this, as long as some effort is made to
make sure the most recent version is included as well as documentation
pointing to the larch site.

Upon further review of the license I mailed the request address
to ensure that all CD vendors who put the Debian distribution on their
CD would not need to make a request to distribute LCLint as the license
states. I received the following reply:

Date: Wed, 19 Jun 96 12:48:02 -0400
From: David Evans <evs@larch.lcs.mit.edu>
To: dale@csd.uwo.ca
Cc: lclint-request@larch.lcs.mit.edu
Subject: Further questions about distribution

This should be no problem. My only concern is that we don't want lclint
to be under GPL --- if this won't happen with Debian and we can keep the
MIT copyright, then there is no problem distributing it on CDs (and
lclint is already included in several linux CDs).

Thanks for checking,

--- Dave
