ENIGMA
multifrequency data and
campaign information page

European Network for the Investigation of Galactic nuclei through Multifrequency Analysis, ENIGMA, is a network on Blazar research, funded by the European Commission through the TMR (Training and Mobility through Research) program.
ENIGMA project's home page.

This web page is the information channel for multfrequency data access, ENIGMA-related multifrequency campaigns and information about flaring blazars.

Data shown or quoted on this page are preliminary and not public.

  1. Multifrequency campaigns, on-going and planned.
  2. Alerts about flaring blazars.
  3. Data access information.

Multifrequency campaigns

Information about ongoing or planned ENIGMA-wide multifrequency campaigns. Some of the campaigns are organised by the WEBT collaboration, with ENIGMA scientists participating in them.

OJ 287, long term campaign

A long term optical and radio campaign was started in late 2004.
An intensive WEBT multifrequency campaign during the XMM pointing will take place from 11.4.-14.4.2005.
For more details, see the OJ287 campaign web page.

A WEBT campaign on 0235+164

Multifrequency campaign on 0235+164 is ongoing, and the next two XMM pointings (10000 sec each) are scheduled for August 2 starting from 00:23:55 UT up to 04:00:35 U, and in the time window January 13-21, 2005. Contact person Claudia Raiteri, see the WEBT collaboration site.

Alerts about flaring blazars

This sections shows "alerts" about AGNs that are observed to be bright at some waveband. Not all of these are targets of multifrequency campaigns, but may be of interest to somebody else in the network. When you submit an alert, please indicate clearly if you are interested in collecting multifrequency data yourself, or whether you just bring this into the attention of the other observers.

Data access information

We gather here information about various ENIGMA-related databases of public and unpublished data.

Radio, SEST 90 and 230 (250) GHz

SEST-data for 155 AGNs from 1989 to June 1994 were published in: Tornikoski et al., Astronomy and Astrophysics Supplement Series 116, 157, 1996 and are available in electronic format at the VizieR.

SESTdata from June 1994 to June 2003: Contact Merja Tornikoski

Radio, Metsähovi

Monitoring at 22, 37, 87 GHz

Most of the Metsähovi 22, 37 and 87 GHz until 1995.5 can be found here.
For data access to the post-1995.5 unpublished monitoring data contact Merja Tornikoski .

Source samples & multifrequency sources at 37 GHz

Since 2001 there is frequent (ca. every two weeks) data taking for the GIX project (gamma-related mf-campaigns, AGN studies for the Planck foreground science etc.) at 37 GHz. These data sets include:
