Instructions for autoheat.pl

General

With this program it is possible to do timed heatings of the telescope dome. The program waits until a user given time is reached, then it switches on the heater and waits a defined period. Next, the heater is switched off and the cycle is repeated.

You should run this program on antimatter. Type "autoheat.pl" to start the program.

Using the program

1. Enter the UTC time, when the heater will be switched on, in format HHMM
2. Enter the duration of the heating in minutes. The value has to be between 1 and 150 minutes.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 or type "heat" to begin the waiting / heating cycle or "exit" to abort.

Notes

• The minimum delay between the heatings is five minutes.
• If the heater cannot be switched on or off, an email is sent to the user.
• Events are logged into /home/gix/log/autoheat.log. In the case of warnings, also into /home/gix/log/gix.log.
• If you miss the first starting time, that is, you haven't written "heat" before the first starting time comes, the program will wait to the next day! So stay sharp!
