AMS - Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer

The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) project is an international scientific research project, the goals of which are to search for antimatter and dark matter in space environment.

The construction and operation of the AMS detector is the responsibility of the AMS Collaboration, with members from China, Finland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA. NASA also provides a major contribution to AMS in the form of a shuttle flight for a precursor mission in April 1998 and three years of operation on the International Space Station, where AMS is to be installed in January 2001.

Metsähovi participates in AMS in designing the High Rate Data Link (HRDL) Data Aquisition Subsystem.
